Samuel "Screech" Powers was willing to do just about anything for his best friend Zack, he usually did. Screech was frequently seen going scuba-diving to get pictures of the girls swim team practice, creating a diversion to block Mr. Belding from his office, hiding in a file cabinet to the get the skinny on why Slater's father was meeting Mr. Belding, or posing as Zack for a contest or date. One thing always stayed the same, though: his love for Lisa. Screech relentlessly pursued her, and after striking out so many times, Screech finally got his prize when Lisa asked him to Prom. But strangely enough at the movie theatre before thier date Screech dumped Lisa for talking during the movie. Screech also was captain of the Bayside Chess team, President of the Insect club, and member of the Bayside miniature golf team.
